Purpose:
The primary purpose of the Brighton Program is to supplement academic instruction, to further the opportunities for students to continue to home school through the Junior High & High School years.
Mission Statement:
- To provide instruction for the high school student to prepare them for college or a vocation.
- To provide the junior high school student with pre- high school academic instruction.
- To provide academic, arts and social skills to elementary stu- dents.
- To provide all levels of students the opportunity to learn time management skills, social opportunities, and accountability skills.
Colorado Home School Law:
Colorado law (Colorado Revised Statutes 22-33-104.5) requires parents to provide 172 days of instruction, averaging 4 hours per day. Testing is mandatory in grades 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11. Brighton Option provides the Iowa Basic for testing on an optional basis. Parents are responsible to make sure that the students meet the full requirements of the Colorado Home School Law.
Method of Teaching in the Option Program:
Whole group instruction. All the time remembering that as home school families our children are involved with many outside activities, jobs, and training for their lives ahead.
